Professor Andrew McDonnell

Studio 3 Director

BSc., MSc., PhD. Consultant Clinical Psychologist to and Director of Studio III Clinical Services; Director, clinical consultant and Team Leader to Studio III Training; formerly Clinical Psychologist to Monyhull Hospital Birmingham.

Dr John McDermott

Counselling Psychologist

DPsych, MSc, LLB (Hons), DipLP, MBPsS. John is a Counselling Psychologist and as such has particular interest in relational and systemic approaches to working with individuals, families and caregivers in autism, developmental disability and care settings.

David Walker

Studio 3 Director

Counsellor and Psychotherapist with an M.Sc. in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Post Graduate Diploma in Integrated Counselling, Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Diploma in Community and Youth Work, B.Sc. (Hons) Psychology and is a BILD Accredited MCB Trainer.

Liz White

Counselling Psychologist

BA Hons in Person-Centrerd Counselling; registered member of BACP. Liz has a wide range of experience in a variety of settings, including the NHS and prison services. Liz passionately believes in the importance of humanity while viewing people in context within all settings.

David Jones

Consultant Clinical Psychologist

David Jones is a consultant Clinical psychologist, with over 20 years of practitioner experience. He has practical experience of a variety of populations including, children with emotional and behaviural disorders, older adults, autism.

Catriona Firmin

Clinical Services

Trine is a Lead Behaviour Therapist with an MSc in Clinical & Abnormal Psychology, Post Graduate Diploma in Autism, Post Graduate Diploma in Research Methods & Practice, BSc (Joint Hons) Psychology & Physiology, teaching, counselling and behaviour management qualifications.

Steve Allison

Principal International Trainer

Steve has an education background. He is a national assessor for the In service trainers programmes for Studio 3. Steve has a number of specialist interests including: Challenging behaviour and autism.

Tim Parker


Tim is a Studio 3 Trainer with extensive experience of working directly with distressed behaviours. He has a specialist interest in the training of frontline teaching staff in behaviour management practices.

Robert Whiskens


Robert Whiskens began working as a trainer for Studio3 mid 2004 and has a broad range of experiences across the autistic spectrum specialist part of the care industry. Pre Studio3 Robert was the regional coordinator for an Asperger syndrome specific outreach team based in the West Midlands.

Gareth D. Morewood

Educational Adviser

Gareth D. Morewood is the Educational Adviser for Studio 3. Previously, Gareth worked for 25 years in UK schools, the last 17 of which were spent as SENCo in a large, inclusive secondary school in the North West of England.

Paul Phillips

Principal Trainer, Ireland

BSocSc (Hons), BSc IT (Hons). Paul is the Principal Trainer in the Republic of Ireland. He delivers courses on Managing Signs of Stress, Low Arousal and Train the Trainer, as well as tutoring the Atlass programme in the UK and Ireland. Paul also offers advice and support to the Clinical Services Team who work in various sectors in the UK and Ireland.

Paul Burbage


Paul is a Trainer/Practitioner working with the Training Systems and Clinical Services teams to provide support and deliver courses on Managing Signs of Stress, Low Arousal and SSRR Trauma-Informed Training for Residential Care and Foster Carers. With over 13 years' experience, his background is in adult and children's services for people with Autism and Learning Disabilities.

Peter Vermeulen

Associate of Studio 3

MSc and PhD in Psychology and Educational Sciences. Worked with people with ASD and their families for more than 30 years. Peter is an internationally respected lecturer/trainer and he presents all over Europe and beyond. Peter wrote more than 15 books and several articles on autism.

Bo Hejlskov Elven

Associate of Studio 3

Bo is a Clinical Psychologist based in Scandinavia. His work focuses on guidance and lecturing concerning managing challenging behaviour. Bo's field is care and special education, mainly concerning children and adults with developmental disabilities such as autism, Asperger's syndrome, ADHD or intellectual disabilities.

Damian Milton

Associate of Studio 3

Damian works part-time for the Tizard Centre, University of Kent as a Lecturer in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and for the National Autistic Society (NAS) as Autism Knowledge and Expertise Consultant.

Roy Deveau

Associate of Studio 3

Honorary Research Assistant, Tizard Centre (University of Kent). Roy's research and consultancy work are focused upon two areas; leadershuo and management, and restrictive practices within the Intellectual Disability sector. Roy has also undertaken research into the use of restrictive practices and frontline practice leadership/management within services for people who challenge.

Andrea Page

Associate of Studio 3

Associate Professor, PhD; MSc, PG Cert, RNT, RNLD, SFHEA. Andrea is a module leader and lecturer on foundation nursing skills and issues relating to the care of people with a learning disability for level 4, 5, and 6 Undergraduate Students at Birmingham City University.

Dermot Rafter

Associate of Studio 3

MA in Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy. Dermot is a Behaviour Support Specialist with over 30 years' experience working on individual support and organisation development.
