Experience you can trust

The Team

Studio 3 is a collective of clinicians, trainers and practitioners who share a common purpose: to help people understand distress and respond in ways that reduce harm, build safety and support meaningful change.

Many of us have worked in senior clinical and leadership roles across health, social care and education, including within the NHS and independent services.

While our experience is extensive, our approach is grounded and human. We work alongside people, not above them. We listen carefully, think deeply and act with compassion.

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 35 years’ experience supporting staff and families working with people who present with complex behaviours of concern.

My work has centred on reducing restrictive practices and promoting neuro-affirming approaches.

I developed the Low Arousal Approach, built on one core idea: to regulate others, you must regulate yourself.

I have published over 50 peer reviewed articles on stress, conflict and staff training, and previously developed an international training programme combining psychology and Jiu Jitsu, delivered in more than 20 countries.

Prof. Andy McDonnell

CEO and Founder

I’m a BACP registered psychotherapist and a Doctoral Researcher at Cardiff University, where I focus on how trauma-informed approaches are used in real practice.

I believe in a whole person, whole service approach. Good support does not sit in one intervention. It runs through the culture, the relationships and the daily practice of a service.

That is the work I try to embed wherever I’m involved.
