Do the ends justify the means? I think such places remind me of the fact that punishment is not a good educational tool.

The video clip WMV (http://studio3.org/data/aam/JudgeRottenbergCentre.wmv) (15MB approx)
OR
The video clip AVI (http://studio3.org/data/aam/JudgeRottenbergCentre.avi) (21MB approx)

The PDF mentioned in the video here (http://studio3.org/data/aam/JudgeRotenbergEducationalCenter.pdf)

This truely needs discussion - I can change the video format again if someone has difficulty please post here if that is the case.

I am speechless having watched this video clip. Cant believe that this 'treatment' was ever approved/allowed and what studies were done prior to this to justify the use of this technique. Those poor kids. I hope staff and management of the centre are prosecuted for their inhuman actions. The children must have been living in complete fear. 61 punishmnets in 1 day for 1 child. criminal

After watching the video clip and reading the observations/findings i found it upsetting that this could ever be allowed! Really wound me up!!

I don't know what to say, most unlike me to be speechless.I can't think what role any physical punishment has to play in education or any care setting. Not only should the centre have closed following the death and then continuous use of unacceptable methods, criminal charges should have been brought against the perpetrators. It's sickening.

I think I posted something recently about my learning more about autism in the middle of Ghana......where they get more right about autism than I could have impagined...despite the lack of so many things we think are important in .......and then we see something like this video from the sophisticated states! As I often say to our staff teams , "There is work to be done my friends"

To think that this is going on in the so called civilised world is utterly deplorable. The place needs to be closed down and criminal charges brought against those who are responsible.

 How can this have gone on for so long???? How many more places like this are there where these things not only go undiscovered but are considered an acceptable treatment approach by those working there???
