I had the pleasure of attending the Seminar by SACT
Sus*** Autistic Community Trust on 15th March

entitled:
The Nature of the Disorder of Autism Across the Spectrum

We had the pleasure of hearing Dr Lorna Wing speak on the subject of diagnosis. Lorna is somewhat of an authority on diagnostics and is responsible for some of the modern thinking on Autism.

When you hear people talk about autism you hear many different things some of which overlap
-Lorna put the history of the subject into a concise understandable form which sorted out some misconceptions.

A fairly complete understanding of the process and problems of diagnostics followed.

In the afternoon Jean Bradbury who was diagnosed with Asperger's at the age of 69 spoke if her experiences in her life both before and after diagnosis.

From 69 years of feeling "different", to the reactions of people around her to the knowledge of the syndrome and the way this knowledge changed, or not, her life.

Both speakers' focus was on the importance of early diagnosis.

A totally informative day all round. Recommended if you ever get the opportunity and thank you to Jean Rose from SACT for hosting the event.
