:D|Hi im a newbie, Im jackie my kids live with their dad in wales due to my mental health problems, My eldest is 15 and has severe learning disabilities and autism, he has no communication.
Problem is his dad isnt happy with the school he's in, he's made numerous complaints which havent been resolved, Complaints are my son has 1-1 and on a visit to school he found our son in school pants that had dried urine in, obviously he'd wet himself earlier, an no-one had noticed, it seems our son is left in front of the computer all day, to keep him quiet, as he wont do anything else much for his teachers, as they cant control him, my son can be very violent lashing out at teachers, punching, kicking, biteing and scratching, but this behaviour is ONLYat school !, Me or his dad have disiplined him the same, as our youngest son 10, by verbal commands and time out, school took a video of him in a rage and we were stunned as we havent seen him like that, he really was a different child , Same day as the wee accident, our son cam back from dinner covered in his food and no-one had bothered to wipe his mouth or anything, they were also stripping the kids off for p.e in the classroom, with no privacy or dignaty, these are 12-16 year old boys. This is just the tip of the iceberg aparantly, so my X is pulling him out of school on Friday for good, until the LEA solve the issues, as we say no-one should be left in their own urine, for it to dry, etc, especially when he gets one to one, it's so disgusting, this school is a centre of excelence and were having problems having our voices heard, so any help would be grateful, aparantly my x has complained to the LEA before but they said his needs were being met ,
They live in Denbighshire wales btw

This sounds from your email like trully distressing and concerning situation. I think these kind of situations require people who can take an independent view of such situations. Unfortunately there are never simple and quick solutions to these type of difficulties. I would urge you to try and get some advice about this current situation. I think you need to get a clear response from the LEA, you may also need to seek an independent review. Whilst we cannot make any promises I would suggest that you contact our office to discuss the matter in a slightly more private arena.

Hello Jackie

my name is Linda Woodcock and I am the lead trainer for parents and families with Studio 3. It sounds as if you've all been having a very stressful time.

As Andy suggested you are in need of some independent advice and representation. As you are probably aware if you believe that the school are not meeting the needs of you son as described in his statement of special educational needs then you can ask for a review, if the LEA still say that the school is meeting the needs and you disagree then you may have to challenge this. your local Parent Partnership organisation may be able to help but if you feel you need more independent advice then there are some organisations which can help:-

Independent Panel for Special Education Advice (IPSEA) offers independent, free advice on the duties of local authorities with regard to the educational needs of children with SEN. Advice Line 0800 018 4016 website: www.ipsea.org.uk (http://www.ipsea.org.uk)

The Childrens Legal Centre. Independent , national charity concerned with law and policy affecting children and young people. They operate an Education Law and Advocacy Unit and their lawyers and barristers provide free legal advice on all aspects of education law. Contact 0845 120 2966 10am-1pm.

I am happy to talk through any issues that you may have, Graeme will give my contact details

Best wishes

Linda
