The low arousal approach encompasses non-aversive techniques and person-centred strategies – a model promoted and practised by Studio III for over 15 years. This conference will examine this evidence base and explore the challenges faced by services that wish to adopt the philosophy.

Keynote Speakers will include:

  • Richard Mills – Director of Research: The National Autistic Society
  • Dr Michael McCreadie – Health Psychologist

1.30 - 3.00   Invited seminars from lead International Studio3 Trainers. Topics include: The role of service leaders and managers, the management of SIB, challenging beliefs of carers.
3.00 - 3.15  Coffee
3.15 - 4.15   The role of leadership in organisations to reduce restrictive practices (Andy McDonnell, PhD)
4.15 - 5.00   Studio3 across Europe; Where do go from here? (Facilitated discussion)
Friday Evening    There will be an organised social event. The working theme of the evening will be: the cultural diversity of Studio3 trainers
 

Day 3 (AM only)

9.30 – 1.00   Practical workshop; Good and bad practices, when teaching physical interventions (Lead facilitators to include Andrew McDonnell and Steve Allison)
